DEATH The death took place today of Philomena (Phil) Cunningham, Lr. Main St, Emly. Phil who was pre-deceased by her husband Jimmy and daughter Siobhán is bereaved by her son Seamus, her daughters Geraldine and Mary T., daughter-in law, sons-in-law and grandchildren. PANTOMIME The Emly Variety Players since Thursday night have been onstage in Emly Parish Hall with their pantomime production of ‘Ole King Cole.’ This year’s show has been produced by Esther Stokes with the musical direction by Nora Hennessy. Billy Laffan plays the organ with Mike Burke on percussion. The choreographer of children’s dance is Nicola Browne. The cast is all from the locality and is made up of all age groups with talent young and old. The final performance takes place tonight.

PANTOMIME Pantomime time is just around the corner.  The Emly Variety Players have been working hard in preparation for their production of ‘Ole King Cole.’ The show starts on Thursday 1st Dec and continues until Sunday 4th. JUNIOR  HURLING  SEMI-FINAL Emly’s run in the County Junior A hurling championship came to an end in Dundrum on Saturday last when defeated by Thurles Sarsfields in a very entertaining game. Having fallen behind early in the first half, the Emly boys ended the half strongly and the teams were level at 1-7 each at the break. In the second half Sarsfields put the pressure on again but Emly stayed within striking distance of them until the last five minutes when Thurles pulled away to win 1-17 to 2-10.
