VISITORS This last week has seen many visitors coming to Emly after the village was announced as Ireland’s tidiest village on Monday last. A number of the Emly tidy town committee members were in The Helix in Dublin for the announcing of the National Tidy Town Awards and were welcomed back to Emly that evening when they brought the trophy home. DEATHS The deaths took place recently of two former parishioners. Jimmy Heffernan, Donohill who has died was a native of the Boro Road, Emly. Margaret Murphy, Ardpatrick who also died during the week came originally from Ballyvistea, Emly.

MUNSTER CHAMPIONS A large following from Emly attended today’s Munster hurling final between Tipperary and Waterford in Cork. In a very disappointing match Tipperary had an easy victory 7-19 to 0-19. DEATHS The deaths have taken place recently of Julia Gubbins, Galtee View Emly and Ann Piper nee Moloney, formerly Monemore, Emly who died in New York.
