PRESIDENTIAL  VISIT. President Mary McAleese will visit Emly on Saturday morning next to launch this year’s National Tidy town competition. She will also unveil Emly’s plaque as National Tidy Town winners in 2009. DEATH The death took place recently of Richard Hewitt, Tuula, Emly. Richard had been living in Tulla for the past 5 years.

DEAD The death took place during the week of Dinny O’Dwyer, formerly The Marsh, Emly. Dinny was pre-deceased by his wife Joan. His funeral Mass took place in Ballylanders parish church and internment in Emly cemetery.

PRESENTATION A presentation of the Papal Benemerenti Medal was made recently to parish organist Mrs Marie Ryan.  Marie took over as organist in our parish church in 1960 on her arrival in Emly as a newly appointed teacher in Emly N.S. The presentation of the papal award was made to Marie by parish priest Fr. Seamus Rochford at Mass last Sunday and marked 50 years of commitment to service in the parish.
